Now hiring: writing and editing intern

Guys, I need some help.

Like, intern help. From a writer and editor who has a background in literature and creative writing.

I know. That sounds weird. It is weird. Why wouldn’t I be looking for someone who’s working on a degree or recently graduated with a degree in Marketing Communications?

Well, because I don’t have a degree in Marketing Communications. I’m a good, old-fashioned Literature major (admittedly, with a lot of journalism history) who was told I would never find a job.

I know you didn’t ask, but do you know how many times I’ve heard things like, “Nobody hires Literature majors!” “Are you joking? What are you going to do all day, deconstruct slant rhymes in Emily Dickinson’s early works of poetry?”

That Emily Dickinson part actually sounds cool, for the record, but no. I took my Literature career and turned it into a journalism career, then turned it into a copywriting career. Fifteen years later, and I now own my own content experience business, which helps companies create and curate web content, blogs, ebooks, white papers, case studies, microcopy, internal communications, and a ton of other tactical writing duties.

I realize I’m not the norm, but I believe I’ve proven that a love of literature and a passion for creative writing can turn into a successful career path. Now I want to help someone else with similar interests do the same.

If you know any current or newly graduated English or creative writing majors, send them my way. I want to know more about them. What they’re hoping to do with their far-from-pointless degrees. How I can help them. If they want to write for me. Maybe I can help them figure out their path and get them some real-life content experience along the way.

P.S. This is a paid opportunity for the right candidate and the position will be open until that person is discovered.

P.P.S. Send resume and writing sample to me at lonna@lonna.co!
